Comment:
Pam is the best professor to take for Math 221. She makes sure each semester has as much time in an elementary classroom as possible, and she really cares about your learning. Her grading is a little nontraditional, but it works in your favor because you get tons of chances to redo things you didn't do well on the first time. Great professor

Pam is a great professor. She really helps you understand everything and let you redo all homework and quizzes, giving you a second chance. We do have a daily prep worksheet for every class, but they never take up too much time. She is great and I highly recommend her!

Dr. Wells is certainly one of the two best professors I have had in my eight (yes eight) years at GVSU. Her teaching methods are superb. Her somewhat novel grading system might throw students off at first but it is designed to make it as easy as possible to get an A if you WANT it. I very highly recommend Dr. Wells. (I took Calculus 1 in 2014)

Very though grader and nit picks everything. Other MTH 221 professors are not nearly as picky as her. Lucky to get a B in her class. Also can get frustrated with students easily in office hours.

Pam is dope. She knows her stuff and can explain things clearly. You get to do a couple days of field experience which is nice because she helps you actually practice teaching what you are learning. Take her if you can. Class is graded by the completion of learning targets. In other words if you know the concepts you get an A.

I've only been in this class for a week and I already hate it. She doesn't help you on anything at all and just assumes that you know everything. She even puts extremely difficult questions on homework that she never taught in class. If it wasn't past the drop date, I would most definitely switch out of her class.

I learned so much in this class. It was very informative. Yes there is a lot of work and sometimes it is overwhelming, but if you stay caught up it's not that bad. She is a moderate grader and the work really does help you understand what you are could be looking at as a teacher. She helped me when I was confused and checks emails regularly!

Having this be a gen ed math requirement is okay, especially for those of us who are math challenged, but, if I were on the early el path this class did not provide info on how to handle small children mostly was geared towards upper el and even middle school. Prof. Wells is informative and well prepared. Take it for your preparednes for teaching.

If you have a hard time understanding math, take her. If not, acts like you are in fifth grade and does about two problems in an hour during class. But answers all the questions.

She made sure everyone understood before she moved on. She's a nice lady, but you can literally sleep in her class every day and still pass with flying colors. Easy A.

I feel like I learned a lot in this class but I was really disappointed with my grade. She knows how children think about math and this provides an awesome refresher for you. I felt like she was way into detail when it came to homework and tests.

Wells is very organized. She uses a variety of teaching ads to help you understand the material. If you struggle in math she'll boost your confidence for 110. Do the homework and ask for help when you need it. She encourages group work so make a friend! May treat you like a child but you'll feel better about the material when she's finished.
