I never was able to follow lecture easily and the LibreText wording was difficult to follow. I never felt like I had a firm grasp on how to do certain calculations. Understanding the lab was equally horrible. I feel like I should've done much better, but I was teaching myself. When I asked for help/further explanation, I still didn't understand.

Belford has quizzes after every class, and an in class participation doc that he takes his attendance off of. No matter how hard you study for an exam, expect to make no high than a 70. Seems like he wants everyone to fail. DO YOU QUIZZES AND SHOW UP TO CLASS!!! That's almost the only way to pass with a decent grade

He was a horrible teacher. He does not go over material well enough; he goes over it as we should already know it. He will go over like 3 to 4 sections for like 10 minutes and give us group assignments, and they are confused too. He makes up units, elements, SI prefixes, etc., without even informing us they would be on the exams

Dr. Belford while obviously very pationate about Chemistry, in my opinion isnt the best teacher of it (at least at the Chemistry 1 level). The textbook is an online text book that he is writing and in my opinion is terrible. His lectures are very math equatin heavy and low on visual examples, I found lectures very hard to follow.

This class was interesting for an IoT class! He is learning with us as a class because there is so many ways to produce the same outcome using different code. there is a project at the end of the semester so beware to not think of something last minute, because it wont go your way in the end. You do have to keep on top of your emails with him.

Pros: Pretty nice guy and responds to emails right away. Textbook is free online, don't need to pay for access codes. Cons: Scatterbrained in explanations; all concepts taught as math equations rather than visual; tough grader; grades mainly come from 4 unit tests of 20-25 questions each; VERY hard to understand; taught myself online with vids!

Dr. Belford is a nice guy but not the best teacher. Took him for General Chemistry 1. Everyday after class I left more confused than the previous day; he goes off on tangents. His tests are about 30 questions which 90% of the class will not be able to finish(not enough time) and the questions are difficult. He gives "gift questions" but no bonus.

If you want to pass, all you have to do is study and pay attention in class. The interactive quizzes and the COOP page on his website might come in handy depending on how you learn best. But most definitely DO ALL THE BONUS people!!. They will help you on his exams. Oh and he gives quizzes in class too. I would recommend a tutor, if needed.

He was one of the worst "teachers" that I've had. Don't even pay attention to his lectures, just teach yourself online! This is the best advise for someone in his class. There are many resources online to help you learn General Chemistry 2. Stay away if at all possible.

DO read the chapters or you won't have a clue on what he's talking about. DO the interactive quizzes & the problems in the book. DON'T skip class. DO ask questions. DO pay attention because he'll tell you what problems will be on the test. DO the extra credit assignments. I had him at 8am & it was fun at best--lotsa coffee & tea.

Took him for Gen Chems I, II, & II Lab. Knows his stuff & teaches multiple approaches to material/problems. Goes off on tangents a lot, but I think messily so followed & enjoyed them. Went into math & physics basis of concepts. Teaches at a level above ACS final which ensures preparedness. Also has lecture notes & interactive quizzes on his site.

He knows the subject so well, that sometimes he forgets that his students don't. Has tests are hard, but you can pass with a B is you study and do all of his practice quizzes.

He is absolutely terrible at communicating the concepts during lecture and is excessively strict in lab grading. Although I was one of the top performers in his class, you can believe me when I say he is a horrible teacher.

Tough material that can become even more difficult with his scatter-brained teaching style. But if you put in the effort in his class and show an interest in learning, he will go out of his way to help you.

very knowledgeable about course but makes the course harder than it should be. I had taken the course previously at another school and did pretty decent (B) but it didn't transfer so I took Belford. All the things I thought I understood he made extremely confusing. He focuses more on what you shouldn't do instead of what you should do.

Belford is a smart guy, but confuses himself and his students. He often messes up or mis speaks, making a usually difficult subject even harder. I would not recommend taking him. He didn't respond to any of my e-mails. Although he was accessible when in his office, he was often unclear and confusing when answering questions.

Dr. Bellford is a very intelligent man. His knowledge of chemistry greatly exceeded the levels of the fundamentals course I took with him. If you are a good student, show up to class and try. he will be very helpful. He has a bad rep but it comes from bad students.

Chemistry is a hard subject, but this teacher makes it even worse. He is not clear in his teaching abilities and will tell you the wrong way of how to do something instead of the right. I have to go to tutoring and look at youtube videos to understand the material even a little.

He is a great teacher who is very passionate about the the subject. Don't let his scattery teaching style bog you down. Try to approach to his office and he will help you. Test is not that bad if you know how to do his online quiz
