Comment:
Prof. Paar is a great lecturer. Please don't be afraid of the bi-weekly quiz. As long as you make some notes during the class especially the derivation, you will be just fine.

It's easy to overlook how good of a professor Paar is if you don't pay really good attention in lecture. If you put in effort to listen and understand during lecture though, he becomes a great professor. My suggestion is to right down any questions you have about the lecture and come to him after class. He was willing to stay as long as you want.

Great professor to have if you are a physics major or are really enthusiastic about physics. Has high expectations, but he always presents the material very thoroughly and cares about students learning. Quizzes are very concept/intuition based and involve mostl derivations and explanations rather than computations, which may be tough to get used to

Comment:
Very fair class. Even when the material gets more difficult in the latter half, it is still manageable because all 8 quizzes (which are weekly--sometimes a pain) are multiple choice. Just don't slack off in the class, as it's fast-paced due to weekly hw/quizzes. Teacher himself is very old but he's nice and cares about us. Read your book :)

His class is hard. He is hard to understand, and the stuff he teaches in class don't even really pertain to the weekly quizzes. You honestly learn more from the TA, and even that isn't enough to help you do well on the quiz. I mainly read the book and did the practice problems, and even more than the assigned problems, and I still did JUST okay.

Professor Paar cares a lot for the students' understanding of the material, to the point where we slightly got behind schedule. But that's okay because out TA helps explain concepts even further. Professor Paar is old and adorable!

He is a great lecturer. It is hard to know what will be on quizzes, but they are mostly from lecture. He cares, and is really helpful after class or at office hours.

Paar really cared whether or not we learned the material. Almost TOO concerned about making things fair. At first his quizzes were hard, but once I stopped paying attention in lecture and reading the book my scores shot up. I liked him overall.

Grading is ridiculous and the TAs are worthless. Quizes have nothing to do with class. Unless you like teaching yourself out of a textbook, he's a terrible teacher to have.

Seems like a really cool guy from the lectures, but the guy has no idea what's happening in the class. From what the TA tells us, the WEEKLY quizzes are generated by a program that the publisher supplied. The only things that really help is textbook work and the last review sessions before the quiz.

Difficult to understand. Has terrible TA's. Tests have nothing to do with what he has "taught" in class and homework problems are completely different. Would avoid at all costs.
