Comment:
All our assignments for the semester were frontloaded and the class was basically done my mid-October. An exam and two projects were due on the same day. He frequently went on tangents that had little to do with the class. The only good thing about the class was that I had the rest of the semester to focus on classes that I actually was learning in

I took Dr. Maglio for my education research class. Boy that was a mistake. Dude just disappeared for several weeks. Like nothing. No help, no grades, no assignments. I have never had a professor/teacher just straight up vanish. This was distressing as this class is needed to graduate. This is so far from basic teacher expectations its disturbing.

I took his class online and it was alright. He would fall way behind with grading from time to time. The tests were just bad, like flat out wrong information presented as correct. I did the minimal amount of effort on everything and got 100% on many assignments. So it is an easy A but you really do not learn anything. Take that as you will.

Dr. Maglio's grading was very arbitrary and unhelpful, his standards and objectives were unclear, and his class was miserable.

I had no problem with this class. He was helpful and easy to work with. You had to know the material.

One of the absolute worst teachers I've ever had. Especially at Truman. He's supposed to teach us how to be teachers, and he's the worst one at the school.

Comment:
He would clearly rather be at his private practice rather than in the classroom and he constantly talks about this and standardized tests, which are not the point of the class. He also falls asleep during student presentations. Also, for a class about making good tests his tests are amazingly bad, confusing, and do not cover syllabus objectives.

Comment:
Maglio fell asleep during students' presentations and yelled when his authority was challenged. Mostly told pointless stories about his son and psych practice instead of sticking to the material. The tests were rarely good examples of what he wanted us to write. He barely read homework/projects. Mocked students often and rarely answered email.

Maglio was great! I learned a lot in the class, but he made it easy to get a good grade, as long as you did your part. He made what should have been a boring class very interesting. Lots of class discussion. Flexible guy and easy to work with.

Maybe it was just a good semester, but I didn't experience any of the things talked about in other reviews. No sleeping, only got a little angry once... not the greatest class, but given the subject matter, there aren't many ways to make it that interesting.

Comment:
Indeed, Maglio falls asleep during student presentations and frequently cancels class without notice (and releases class early for no real reason other than sheer laziness on his part). Tests are poorly constructed, and he is angry when questioned. Screamed at my class on 2-3 occasions because he was told someone complained to Dr. Miner. Pathetic!

he cancels class often, entertaining professor but sometimes you wish he'd stick to the material which he'll be testing you on. Overall, tests are sometimes difficult and rarely in the format which he teaches to us as future teachers!

Comment:
Maglio routinely falls asleep in class, runs late and cancels class (often at the last minute). He is VERY defensive if his tests/assignments are questioned, but, despite being a professor of assessment, writes terrible tests and vague assignments. Does NOT answer emails in a timely fashion. Is routinely rude and often tells pointless stories.
