Comment:
Swapna is the worst professor I've ever had. Final exam and midterm were weighed way too much. I honestly don't think she would get over a 75 on her own exams. Sucks that she is the only teacher of this class that all software dev concentrations are required to take. Disappointment to the CSE department.

The exams were very difficult and had an unreasonably high weightage for the final course grade. The homeworks and projects were a much better metric of our learning, but their weightage was not very much.

Makes the case for getting rid of tenure. For each topic, she makes you do quizzes and ORs that are due the same days the lecture videos are released. Want to get in touch with her? Good luck, she ghosted our class for days. Of course, it doesn't matter because you will do poorly on the final that is unreasonably weighed more than everything else.

The worse professor Ive ever had at uconn, by far. The final was worth 35% of our grade. Meanwhile, three major projects that I spent over 60 hours on? 20%, total. And yet the final that I spent 2 hours on? 35%. Plus, the projects are a much, much better representation of what we learned in this ridiculously taught class, compared to the final.

Arguably the worst class I've ever taken. The 3 projects combined were almost worth less than the midterm exam. The final exam had way too much weight. In addition, the exams contained questions and content that were nowhere to be found in lecture slides. Lecture videos were unhelpful, better off reading slides on your own.

Swapna Ghokale may be the worst teacher at UConn. She has extremely unfair grading practices and purposely made exams more difficult because she did not like that the average was "high". Her final exam in this class was 50% of the entire grade and extremely long. Avoid this professor at all costs.

The way things are weighted in this class makes no sense. The final is literally worth 35% of your grade while projects are 20%. The final was 66 MC choice questions and the answers werent easily accessible through the slides which was a shame. I had an A in the class but now I dont. Unfair that it came down to this.

She is the worst professor I've ever had. The final exam is worth 50% of your grade. She does not teach and instead posts a 5 minute video of her doing a simple problem. Does not give enough time for exams and does not care about her students. Very rude when responding back to students questions- often her responses are unclear and vague.

Final was 66 MC worth 35% of your grade, more than all projects and is difficult due to ambiguities. Did not allow us to choose our own partners for projects even though the syllabus said we could. Got stuck with a lazy person and ended up doing all of the projects on my own. NO CURVE despite concerns from many students about final exam. Rude.

Incredibly frustrating that the MC final exam is 35% of the grade, especially when long term projects are only 20% and coding HW 12% of the grade. Also the midterm/final is the worst, theyre open note but the anwsers not in the slides. SO ambigious. I had an A+ in the class but after the final will probably get a B/B- w no curve. DONT TAKE w her !

Class hasn't changed in over 10 years. Search Github for CSE2102 to find nearly the same project from 2009. Midterm is multiple choice, some questions are from the internet and slides. No live lectures: you read her comic sans slides each week, and watch 3 minute videos of her reading from random parts of them. Difficultly comes from ambiguity.

You will learn how to research specific topics to publish papers from this class. There was not too much pressure, but that was very useful for my research. some of my friends who took this class published papers from this class's projects. I also had a good chance to submit my paper to conferences. I strongly recommend you to take this class.

She wasn't that rude as expected from prev reviews. This is just a probability class w/ CSE problems mixed in. Exams weren't bad if you do the homeworks (not graded btw) + copy lecture notes. If we had in-person classes, we would get a whole page cheat sheet per exam, but our exams were open note. Exam/projects (not hard) play heavily into grades.

Prof. Gokhale is a good professor, she doesn't deserve these gradings. Her explanations were clear and her supplementary slides are available before class. I would recommend taking notes by making one super doc and ctrl + f during the exams. Just pay attention during diagram explanations and activities and you will pass. Nail those projects.

Lecture is required because of participation. You learn nothing in class. Cheat on the test. Do it. It's open note on your computer. The project is stupid. Just do it early and you'll forget about it.

Swapna is an absolute joke of a teacher. Sometimes terrible teachers can still be nice people but she fails there too. She's a lazy lecturer, not lenient with deadlines, does not care about her students, and is very difficult to reason with. I'd never recommend her to anyone. Do not take her class, find another professor or take a different class.

Not a great prof but the class was as easy as it gets. Everything is open notes and laptops are allowed, so ctrl+f is your best friend. She writes notes on the board that will be on the hw/exam, so attendance is mandatory. Programming assignments were the only redeeming quality of this class but they're in Java (ew).

We were so behind that she made the final exam from 30% to 45%. She takes the cake as the worst professor at UConn. I would recommend staying an extra semester than taking a class with her.

By far the worst CSE professor I've ever had. You can tell she does not care about the class and just rewrites her notes on the board every lecture. Her homeworks are very poorly designed and cannot answer questions without emailing another professor. The class has no direction and you will never know what you are supposed to be learning.
